Planning guide

PoE vs wire-free security cameras.

Choose PoE when stable recording matters. Choose wire-free when the location cannot easily support Ethernet or power cabling.

When PoE fits best

  • Continuous local recording is important.
  • The site can support Ethernet cable runs.
  • Multiple cameras need one NVR plan.
  • Maintenance access should be predictable.

When wire-free fits best

  • Cabling is difficult, temporary, or too expensive.
  • The camera covers a gate, rental, cabin, or remote corner.
  • Motion-based recording is acceptable.
  • Battery or solar maintenance is realistic.

Buying shortcut

Send the site constraints before choosing the SKU.

The right answer depends on cable access, power, Wi-Fi signal, recording days, camera count, and whether the system is for a home, business, installer, or private-label project.
